E-learning and Socialization

E-learning and Socialization

Are you thinking about taking charge of your child's education with online and distributed learning? Do you want to take advantage of having a flexible schedule and individual support?
The answer seems simple - of course! But what about socialization??? How can you make sure your child will develop healthy relationships with other people, and not just with the internet?

Here are a few tips from one of our home schooling parents...

  • sports are a great way to provide socialization opportunities! Almost every community across BC offers sports programs such as taekwon do, soccer, dance etc. - great for socialization and fitness!

  • Social Media does not only have to mean online socialization. Check Facebook for a homeschool group in your community. Most areas have an active group - you might not have met them yet! Groups might meet for play dates in the park, or may be more organized and hold field trips.

  • Is your child interested in art? Art classes are a great way to educate your child while providing a little socialization at the same time. You might even be able to organize a session that is attended entirely by homeschooled children.

  • Does your community have a library? Libraries are also a great place to meet other children. Check the local library for current programs! You could even ask your library to host an event for children schooled at home.

Those four tips were brought to you straight from an experienced home-schooling mother, so she knows what she's talking about!
