Of course there are tons of apps and websites that can help you with your studies, but it's hard to know which ones you should give a try, right? The selection is overwhelming, even for us - so we asked one of our students to check out a few and report back to us... Here's a list of apps and websites he liked - of course we'd also love to hear what you think of these, or if there are any other ones you'd recommend. Just leave us a comment below, or chime in on our Facebook page.
Khan Academy is a non-profit organization, that was founded by Salman Khan in 2006. His goal was and is, to provide a "free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere", and while there is an app available, they can also be found on YouTube with a great selection of educational videos.
BrainPop is an app and website (some things are free, some are subscription-based), that supplies animated educational clips on pretty much any subject.
Everyone knows Cliff Notes, the study guides for literature. They are written by teachers and professors, and can really help you understand and interpret the literature you're reading. Cliff Notes are available as apps for Apple and Android devices, and aren't free, but sometimes very helpful.
Have you heard of the TED Talks? TED is a non-profit organization, dedicated to "spreading ideas by using short, powerful talks". There are TED talks on a variety of educational (and inspirational!) topics, and it's available as an app for Apple or Android.
Are you interested in Astronomy? The you should check out the Exoplanet App. This amazing app is free, and consists of an interactive catalogue of all known exoplanets.
For younger kids (up to Grade 5), the Raz-Kids website and app is a great resource. Just like SCIDES, it's anytime and anywhere with this app. A great motivation for younger kids to read more.
Lynda.com is a site (and also an app) with video tutorials and online courses, that lets you take your skills and knowledge to the next level. Their courses would be suitable for secondary or post-secondary students, and are subscription based, after a free trial.
That's it from us! Which apps do you use and love? We want to hear about it! Leave a comment below, or connect with us on Facebook. Of course you can always contact us at SCIDES to find out how we can help you succeed with your education - or check out our website to find out more and sign up.
